How to Play Pick 2
Wondering how to pick your Pick 2 numbers? Or any other questions? This How To Play guide will cover all the basics, so you can make a start with Florida Pick 2.
Completing your Playslip
To get a playslip, you’ll need to head to one of Florida Lottery’s authorized retailers. Each playslip has 5 panels, with each panel representing a separate play. On your playslip, choose two numbers from 0 to 9 - you can choose the same number twice.
If you don’t feel inspired or you simply want to leave it up to fate, you can mark the QP (Quick Pick) box on your ticket. The lottery terminal will randomly generate two numbers for you.
Picking a Play Type
The play types offered by the Pick 2 game are:
- Straight - Match both numbers in drawn order.
- Box - Match both numbers in any order.
- Straight/Box - Play both of the above, and net both prizes if you land a Straight!
- Front & Back Numbers - Match either the first number or the second number in drawn order.
Costs and Prizes
The wager amounts are $0.50 and $1. Naturally, the $1 bet returns greater prizes. We cover the different odds, wagers, and prizes in great depth on the Odds and Prizes page.
How Can I Win Pick 2?
The table below shows how to win with each Florida Pick 2 play type:
Play Type | Example | Winning Combinations |
---|---|---|
Straight | 1-2 | 1-2 |
Box | 1-2 | 1-2 |
Straight/Box | 1-2 | 1-2 / 2-1 |
Front Number | 1-_ | 1-0 / 1-1 / 1-2 / 1-3 / 1-4 / 1-5 / 1-6 / 1-7 / 1-8 / 1-9 |
Back Number | _-1 | 0-1 / 1-1 / 2-1 / 3-1 / 4-1 / 5-1 / 6-1 / 7-1 / 8-1 / 9-1 |
The Fireball Option
Boost your chances of winning with the Fireball add-on! The Fireball is drawn immediately after the main numbers, and can replace either of the two winning numbers that have been drawn. For example, if you play 34 as a Straight and the winning numbers are 37, this would normally be a loss. However, if the Fireball is 4, you can swap out the 7 and replace it with 4 to give you a winning combination.
If you want to add Fireball to your Pick 2 ticket, it will double the cost of your initial wager. There’s only 1 Fireball box per playslip, so the cost applies to all the panels you entered.
Advance Play
The Florida Lottery has an Advance Play option which allows you to enter draws for up to 14 consecutive days. It can be selected by ticking a box on your playslip.
Drawing Times
Pick 2 holds two draws every day, and you must mark the draw you wish to enter on your ticket. For the Midday draw, mark MID. For the Evening draw, mark EVE. To enter your numbers in both draws, mark BOTH. When selecting BOTH, you will receive two separate tickets.
Ticket sales close 13 minutes before each draw. Therefore, you need to make sure you purchase your tickets for the Midday draw by 1:17 PM ET. The tickets for the Evening draw need to be bought by 9:32 PM ET.
We closely monitor the Florida Pick 2 results and publish them on our Numbers page quickly after the draws have taken place. The Midday draw happens at 1:30 PM ET while the Evening draw is held at 9:45 PM ET.
