How to Play Mega Millions in Florida
Getting your tickets
You can ask for a Mega Millions playslip at any authorized Florida Lottery retailer. Each slip has 5 ‘plays’ that cost $2 each, but only one is required to play. Next, pick five numbers between 1 and 70 and a Mega Ball from 1 to 25 (this can be the same as one of your main balls).
No inspiration? You can ask the lottery clerk for a Quick Pick ticket, and the computer will randomly generate a set of numbers for you. If you prefer, you can use the online version of a Quick Pick ticket and try out the Mega Millions random Number Generator.
Adding The Megaplier
Adding the Megaplier to your ticket costs $1 per play, and gives you the opportunity to win bigger non-jackpot prizes, multiplying your winnings by 2X, 3X, 4X or 5X times. The Megaplier number is drawn shortly after the main draw takes place, from a pool of 15 balls. Below are the odds of each ball being drawn:
- 2X Megaplier - Five balls, 1 in 3 chance
- 3X Megaplier - Six balls, 1 in 2.5 chance
- 4X Megaplier - Three balls, 1 in 5 chance
- 5X Megaplier - One ball, 1 in 15 chance
Advanced Play
You are able to play Mega Millions using the same set of numbers for multiple drawings, saving time if you play the same numbers regularly. In Florida, you can enter up to 26 consecutive drawings. If you only want to play one draw, leave this section of your playslip blank.
How to Win
You win Mega Millions prizes by matching the numbers you pick to the numbers that are drawn. You are guaranteed a prize as long as you match the Mega Ball, even if you don’t get any of the five main numbers. In total, there are nine different ways to win. Head over to the Odds and Prizes page to see a full payout chart.
When should I check the results?
Draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM ET, and we publish the Mega Millions numbers shortly after the drawings. You’ll be able to find how many numbers you matched using our Ticket Checker.
