Mega Millions Odds and Prizes
With Mega Millions, 9 prize tiers are up for grabs, depending on how many winning numbers you match. Matching the Mega Ball alone can bring you a $2 prize, while matching all six winning numbers will get you the jackpot.
The top prize starts at $20 million, and the amount will roll over until it is won. With no jackpot cap and no rollover limit, the jackpot has been known to reach billions of dollars!
In case there are multiple jackpot winners, the amount will be equally split among them. Besides the jackpot, the remaining eight prizes have fixed amounts.

Claiming Prizes
If you win a prize, the next step is to claim your money. Go to the How to Claim page to find out the different ways you can cash in winning tickets, depending on how much your prize is worth.
Jackpot Payment Options
The Mega Millions jackpot can be claimed as annuity or as a cash lump sum. With the annuity option, your grand prize is paid out to you in 30 installments over 29 years. For the cash option, you receive your jackpot’s cash value amount in a single payment.
You should remember that the advertised Mega Millions grand prize is usually just an estimated amount. It is not guaranteed and, if you win, it’s possible that you may receive a smaller amount than the one that was advertised. The final amount depends on the ticket sales and interest rates for long-term investments.
