Powerball FAQS
Powerball draws take place three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings at 10:59 PM EST. Draws are held in the Florida Lottery studio in Tallahassee.
Ticket sales close at 10:00 PM in Florida. If you are playing in another state, the cut-off time might be different, although it is usually about one hour before the Powerball draw takes place.
To enter Powerball, you need to select five main numbers from 1 to 69, plus a red Powerball number between 1 and 26. You can also enter with a random set of numbers if you select the Quick Pick option. There are a couple of add-ons too such as Power Play and Double Play. Each Powerball entry costs $2. Power Play and Double Play options cost an additional $1 each.
Yes, you are able to use the same set of numbers for up to 39 consecutive drawings. Simply mark the “Multi-Draw” box if you want to play Powerball in advance.
The Power Play option allows you to increase your non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times. It costs an additional $1 to add it to your ticket. To learn more about the Power Play option, please visit the How to Play page.

Powerball offers a minimum jackpot of $20 million, and it will rollover with every draw, until it is won, with no upper limit!

The biggest Powerball jackpot was won in November 2022 and it was worth $2.04 billion. The lucky winner was Edwin Castro, a player from California who claimed the cash option of $997 million.
In Florida, the largest Powerball jackpot was won in May 2013. It was worth $590.9 million, and it was claimed by Gloria C. Mackenzie. The prize was claimed two weeks after the winning draw as a cash lump sum of $370 million. Gloria purchased the winning ticket at a Publix supermarket in Zephyrhills, Florida.
The overall odds of winning a Powerball prize are 1 in 24.9 but if you’ve got your eyes on the jackpot, you should know the odds of winning it are 1 in 292,201,338.
