How to Play Powerball in Florida

Saturday's Powerball jackpot is  est. $130 Million!
Play Powerball

Playing Powerball in Florida is simple and only involves a few steps. However, you must be over 18 years of age to play.

  • Pick five main numbers between 1 and 69.
  • Select a Powerball number from 1 to 26.
  • Decide whether you want to add the Power Play or Double Play options (more info on these to follow).
  • Select “Advance Play” if you want to enter your chosen numbers into future draws. You can play your numbers in the next 39 draws!

Pick your numbers

You have the option of entering Powerball with a random set of numbers. Simply mark the Quick Pick box on your ticket, and the terminal will randomly select some or all of the numbers. You can also use our online number generator to generate a random set of numbers in a few seconds. Of course, you can always pick the numbers yourself, the good old-fashioned way!

Pay for your ticket

Tickets cost $2, but there are some optional extras – Power Play costs an extra $1 per play, as does Double Play. You should purchase your tickets before the 10:00 PM EST deadline on the night of the drawing. Any tickets purchased after the deadline will simply be entered into the next draw.

Add Power Play

With the Power Play option, you have the chance to multiply your non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times. The 10X multiplier is only available if the jackpot is less than $150 million. If you want to add the Power Play option, you need to pay an extra $1 per entry. The Power Play number is chosen in a separate draw, featuring all the different possible multipliers. The frequency and approximate odds are displayed below:

  • 2X Multiplier: 24 balls, 1 in 1.75 chance
  • 3X Multiplier: 13 balls, 1 in 3.25 chance
  • 4X Multiplier: 3 balls, 1 in 14 chance
  • 5X Multiplier: 2 balls, 1 in 21 chance
  • 10X Multiplier: 1 ball, 1 in 43 chance

Note - These odds will be slightly different depending on whether the 10X ball is in play. All non-jackpot prizes are multiplied by the Power Play number, with one exception. If you Match Five (5+0) and win the $1 million prize with a Power Play ticket, it will only be doubled, regardless of the Power Play number. Still a cool $2 million though!

Add Double Play

After the Powerball draw takes place, a second Double Play draw is held, giving players a second chance to win some extra prizes of up to $10 million. You’re in luck as this option is only available in 20 jurisdictions, including Florida.

You can add the Double Play feature to your Powerball ticket for $1 per play. You don’t need to pick another set of numbers – your selections from the main draw are also entered into Double Play.

You can enter your numbers into just the next drawing, or several in a row by using the 'Multi-Draw' section. Simply mark how many consecutive draws you want to play: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 24, or 39.
